How to Tell If Your Pet is
Having an Emergency

If any of these situations apply to your pet, contact us immediately at (317) 326-1212, or call one of the emergency hospitals listed above. We also ask that you call us if you suspect, but are not completely certain, that your pet is having an emergency so we can help you decide what to do next.

  • Difficulty breathing (heavy breathing, panting)
  • 24+ hours without eating or drinking
  • Recurrent vomiting/diarrhea
  • Abdomen is swollen and distended
  • Hemorrhaging
  • Can’t walk or stand
  • Ingested a known toxin
  • Suffered a potentially traumatic fall/collision
  • Got attacked by a wild animal or other pet
  • Acting confused and disoriented
  • Straining or unable to eliminate
  • Significant blood in urine/stool
